Social Emotional Policy Forum

5 Reasons Transforming Ed’s Upcoming SEL Policy Forum Should Be On Your Radar

SEL_Policy_Forum_finalOn October 26th, 2015, the TransformEd team is teaming up with the Rennie Center for Education Research & Policy, and MassINC to host a policy forum. The event will  synthesize evidence on social-emotional learning (SEL), address the state of SEL practice in public schools, and share innovative SEL approaches in schools and districts.  We’re pretty excited and here’s why you should be too:

1 WE INVITED SOME BIG NAMES TO SHARE THEIR PERSPECTIVES. THEY SAID YES.

The perspectives of leaders in the education field in Massachusetts and nationally will be captured with guests including: Mitchell Chester, Massachusetts Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education; and Martin West, Associate Professor of Education, Harvard University Graduate School of Education.

2SHH! YOU’LL GET A SNEAK PREVIEW OF OUR PAPER.

We are excited to share highlights from our soon-to-be-released paper, Ready to Be Counted: The Research Case for Education Policy Action on Non-cognitive Skills. The paper summarizes the state of research about the importance of social-emotional skills around 9 research headlines related to academic, career, and well-being outcomes.  The paper is aimed at policymakers, state and school district leaders, education nonprofit leaders, and educators.
