MassINC released new research on the role of private nonprofit economic development organizations in Gateway City growth and renewal at event held in Lawrence on December 8th. Cohosted with the Lawrence Partnership and the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development, the forum brought together business and economic development leaders from across the state.

In his remarks, Secretary Ash emphasized that he believes the most important attribute to successful local economic development is a community unity around a common vision. When cities and towns are on the same page with regard to how they plan to leverage their strengths, he strives to help them succeed by aligning the investment of state resources to the local strategy. Secretary Ash stressed that private nonprofit economic development organizations can help provide the continuity that communities need to sustain efforts to achieve their common vision over the long term.
