BOSTON , MA – MassINC is pleased to announce the creation of an Associate Board, composed of an exceptional group of Massachusetts’ civically engaged emerging leaders. The Board evolved from MassINC’s successful RealTalk program and will expand upon the theme of engagement among young people in the Commonwealth. The Associate Board’s mission is to build a new generation of civically engaged leaders for the Commonwealth. Board members will serve as advisors to MassINC’s research, journalism, and civic events/programs.
“The Associate Board was created to provide a voice for a younger generation among the civic leadership community here in Boston and throughout the state,” said Greg Torres, President of MassINC. “Connecting young adults to civic leadership opportunities is important to the state’s overall effort to attract and retain this demographic now and into the future.”
“The Board will provide a fresh perspective on the direction and strategic focus of MassINC, and build a community of developing leaders across Massachusetts,” said Aimee Ward, MassINC Director of Finance and Operations and founder of the Associate Board. “It will serve as a model for other organizations, both locally and nationally, wishing to engage young leaders in their own communities in a significant way.”
The ten appointed Board members come from diverse backgrounds representing the private, public, and nonprofit sectors and bring a range of skills and talents to MassINC. “These individuals are outstanding not only in their peer group, but also in the community as a whole,” said Ward.
The Associate Board hits the ground running this month with a networking event to be held at Ned Devine’s in Boston on April 29. The event, “Network the Networks (N2N),” will be an opportunity for young professionals from different sectors to come together and share their work in a relaxed atmosphere. Registration for the N2N event can be found here. The full list of board members can be found on our website.
