MassINC and CommonWealth to host 15th anniversary celebration

MassINC and CommonWealth magazine will host “Serious Fun: A political party,” on November 10th, 2011 at the John F. Kennedy Library in South Boston. The event will take a seriously funny look at politics, pundits and the press in celebration of MassINC and CommonWealth magazine’s 15th anniversary.

The program, which includes live and taped performances and presentations, will be co-hosted by Jim Braude and Margery Eagan of the Jim & Margery Show, 6-10 am on 96.9 FM.  Braude also hosts Broadside: The News with Jim Braude, nightly at 6 and 8 on NECN and Eagan is a columnist at the Boston Herald.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails and will continue into the program at 7:30. All proceeds will support MassINC’s CommonWealth Campaign for Civic Journalism as well as a scholarship program for promising journalism students who are focused on public affairs.

The CommonWealth Campaign for Civic Journalism was launched early this year in response to a challenge grant: CommonWealth magazine was gifted $500,000, with the promise of an additional $500,000 if the organization can raise $500,000. The gift is in celebration of the MassINC and CommonWealth’s 15th anniversary and long-standing contribution to non-partisan reporting on politics and policy in Massachusetts.

As a companion to the event, CommonWealth will publish a 15th Anniversary commemorative issue to be distributed at the event and mailed to MassINC’s list of the 10,000 most influential and engaged citizens in Massachusetts.

See the event website for more information, or call Marj Malpiede at (617) 224-1625.
