Four major Gateway City projects were recently funded by the MassWorks Infrastructure Program:
• Brockton – $4 million toward the redevelopment of the “Enterprise Block” – new downtown office, retail, and reisdential units.
• Haverhill – $4 million to support the downtown redevelopment of Merrimack Street.
• Holyoke – $2 million for the construction of a new passenger station on Dwight Street, part of the Vemonter Restoration Rail Line project.
• Springfield – $3.9 million for Springfield Technical Community College Assistance Corporation to open up a larger parking area in Springfield Technology Park, accommodating a new grocery store serving the neighborhoods of Mason Square, Upper Hill, McKnight, Six Corners and Metro Center.
