MassINC is pleased to announce that Joe Kennedy III, former U.S. Representative for Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional District and former U.S. Special Envoy for Northern Ireland for Economic Affairs, is joining the organization’s Board of Directors.

Kennedy currently serves as President of Citizens Energy, a diversified renewable energy non-profit that donates millions of dollars to those in need across the United States, and is Founder of Groundwork Project, an organization dedicated to supporting local community organizing efforts in regions of the country historically under-resourced and disenfranchised. Kennedy’s dedication to the people of the commonwealth and his unwavering commitment to equity, opportunity, and innovation make him an exceptional addition to MassINC’s leadership.

“We are thrilled to have Joe join our distinguished board of directors,” said Joe Kriesberg, MassINC’s CEO.” Joe’s diverse experience in the public and private sector, along with his track record for collaborative leadership aligns perfectly how we want MassINC to grow into the future.”

Throughout his entire career, Kennedy has championed causes central to MassINC’s mission—strengthening democracy, building resilient communities, and expanding economic mobility. From fighting for healthcare access to supporting clean energy initiatives and advocating for marginalized voices, his legacy reflects principled leadership and bold vision.

“Massachusetts is blessed to have an organization like MassINC guiding us towards progress, and I’m honored to join an extraordinary board to help support their mission,” said Joe Kennedy. “Empowering the public through data and discourse, creating spaces for public participation and informed debate and transparency, unbiased data has never been more important in our community. It’s what MassINC does, and I’m excited to help support that vision.”

As MassINC navigates the challenges and opportunities ahead, Kennedy’s experience and passion for addressing the commonwealth’s most pressing issues will be invaluable. His work consistently demonstrates a deep belief in Massachusetts’ potential to lead the nation in inclusive growth and innovation. MassINC looks forward to collaborating with him to advance policies and programs that create meaningful change for residents.
