Amie Shei

President & CEO, The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts

Amie Shei, PhD, is a nonprofit leader dedicated to advancing health and regional equity across Massachusetts. As President and CEO of The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts, she drives the Foundation’s strategic philanthropy to improve community health throughout the Commonwealth. Previously, Dr. Shei worked in health care strategy and health economics and outcomes research consulting, and taught community health at the undergraduate level. Her research and writing have been featured in Health Affairs, Public Health Reports, the Boston Business Journal, CommonWealth Magazine, and The Boston Globe.

Dr. Shei serves on several nonprofit boards, including Health Care For All, the Health Equity Compact, and the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, and has been appointed to public service roles on the CHIA Oversight Council, the Children’s Trust Board of Directors, and Governor Maura Healey’s Transportation Funding Task Force. Named to the Worcester Business Journal’s Power 100 in 2024 and 2025 and as USA TODAY’s Woman of the Year for Massachusetts in 2025, Dr. Shei earned a BA in English from Amherst College, an MS in Health Policy and Management from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and a PhD in Health Policy from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Her doctoral research on the health impacts of an anti-poverty program in Brazil was supported by several fellowships, including a prestigious Fulbright Fellowship from the U.S. Department of State.
