Lisa Lazare

Executive Director, Educators for Excellence Massachusetts

Lisa Lazare is a systems-level leader and policy strategist working at the intersection of education, equity, and public leadership. As Executive Director of Educators for Excellence Massachusetts, she leads a statewide network of more than 1,500 educators and advances policy efforts on early literacy and educator diversity, ensuring that those closest to the classroom help shape decisions at the state level.

A former high school chemistry teacher and robotics coach, Lisa brings a practitioner’s lens to her work, translating classroom experience into policy and coalition-driven change. She is the founder of Tribal, an initiative focused on recruiting and retaining educators of color, and the architect of the Massachusetts Educator Collective for Change, a fellowship that prepares teachers to influence systems beyond their classrooms.

Lisa’s leadership is grounded in her lived experience as an immigrant and public school student, and she is driven by a commitment to building systems that are more responsive, equitable, and effective. She has been recognized by the City of Boston as a Liberation Leader and was nominated by state leaders and recognized by the Boston Caribbean Association for her leadership and impact.

She is particularly interested in how leadership, policy, and community power intersect to drive lasting systems change, and in building cross-sector solutions that extend beyond education.
