Monika Rhodes Program Assistant, MassINC
Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, Monika Rhodes has a deep connection with Massachusetts and hopes to build opportunities for those who need them the most. Monika recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Media and Communication with a minor in Marketing from Salem State University.
During one of her internships, she gained a passion for helping small businesses in Massachusetts. This passion, coupled with strong feelings about diversity and representation, lead her to pursue a career in nonprofit work. Prior to joining the MassINC team, Monika interned at the Acorn Gallery School of Art as the Lead Creative Strategist, where she set goals and objectives for the creative team as well as created promotional materials to create better brand awareness. She also worked at Marblehead Bank as the manager of the Saving Smart campaign, conducting research to gage students’ knowledge of budgeting and financial literacy. She also worked at Salem State University as a Social Media Intern, creating signature campaigns and collaborating with the university marketing department to promote events.
Monika’s various experiences provided her with the opportunity to gain insights into the nonprofit sector, and now hopes to grow in her role at MassINC and continue to expand her knowledge in nonprofit operations. She is thrilled to be part of an organization that drives change. She continues to reside in Jamaica Plain with her older brother and enjoys drawing, crafting and photography.
