Join The MassINC Polling Group and The Education Trust in Massachusetts on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. ET at Suffolk University for The State of Education in the Commonwealth: A Community Perspective event. We will share and discuss the results of our latest Massachusetts K-12 family poll. The eighth in its series, this statewide poll sponsored by The Barr Foundation comes at a pivotal time as state and local leaders across the state continue to discuss the necessary support and resources to help students recover academically and emotionally from the COVID-19 pandemic.
We will be joined by Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, who will offer reactions to the polls’ findings and provide an overview of the current state of Massachusetts K-12 education.
The event will start with an overview of the polls’ key findings by The MassINC Polling Group’s President, Steve Koczela, highlighting the perspectives of over 1,500 parents on their children’s educational experiences this school year, including how they think students are doing academically, their satisfaction with available resources and supports, school safety and security concerns, and more.
Then we will move to a panel moderated by Chanthy Lopes, who will will engage parents, policymakers, and practitioners, including:
-
Representative Andy Vargas, State Representative, 3rd Essex District
-
Leon Smith, Executive Director of Citizens for Juvenile Justice (CFJJ)
-
Keri Rodrigues, Co-Founder and President of The National Parents Union (NPU)
-
Richard Carter, Father of Taunton Public Schools’ child
We are looking forward to welcoming you on May 24!
