Event Recap | Gateway Cities Leadership Summit: Growing an Inclusive Economy

On Thursday, July 22 MassINC hosted its Annual Gateway Cities Leadership Summit where we explored how important actors can successfully support entrepreneurs of color and promote inclusive entrepreneurship statewide.

The data shows business growth is on the decline in our Commonwealth. However, the number of entrepreneurs of color is growing quickly. These entrepreneurs need significant support to see sustained growth and have a promising route to bridge the racial wealth gap.

Mayors, legislators, economic development officials, and business leaders who are committed to advancing this work joined MassINC to discuss strategies that support and promote entrepreneurs of color in ways that will create opportunities for them, grow Gateway City economies, and create a landscape of inclusive entrepreneurship across the Commonwealth.

Audience members heard from experts in the inclusive economic development field, the co-chairs of the Gateway City Legislative Caucus, and even had the opportunity to chime in and discuss what they’re seeing on the ground during an interactive Q&A/audience input session. We look forward to learning from and continuing to champion this important work.
