In addition, Governor Deval Patrick and Speaker Robert DeLeo were recognized as the inaugural winners of the Gateway Cities Champion Award, made annually to recognize leaders who display exceptional commitment to the advancement of innovative public policies that support the growth and renewal of the Gateway Cities.
Jon Schnur, Executive Chairman and co-founder of America Achieves, delivering the keynote address
Governor Patrick and Speaker DeLeo have both displayed the vision and foresight to see our Gateway Cities as economic engines in the Commonwealth’s regional economies and they’ve doubled down on that conviction with real investments that have made these communities better places to live and work.
The luncheon also featured a keynote address by Jon Schnur, Executive Chairman and co-founder of America Achieves a national non-profit organization supporting high impact initiatives to raise the bar in education and help our young people succeed in a changing world. Schnur urged Massachusetts to continue leading and to tackle the very real challenges educators confront taking effective new learning models to scale. The 2014 Awards & Summit was made possible by the generous support of our sponsors: MassMutual, Eastern Bank, MassDevelopment, the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, The Boston Foundation, Beacon Health Strategies, Siemens, Partners HealthCare, Massachusets Charter Public School Association, Boston Community Capital, Public Consulting Group, and Waste Zero.
