A Community Conversation on ESSA and School Accountability – Pittsfield

February 14, 2017 @ 7:30 am - 9:30 am

| Free

Save the date today for a Breakfast Forum on Opportunities in the new Every Student Succeeds Act to Improve Education Accountability in Gateway Cities. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is the most dramatic change to federal education funding and accountability since Congress enacted the No Child Left Behind law in 2002. To comply with ESSA, Massachusetts is developing a new system to evaluate schools and provide additional assistance to those that are struggling to help students succeed. The decisions state education officials make over the next few months will have long-term implications for inclusive urban districts like Pittsfield.

MassINC will present research on the new opportunities ESSA affords urban districts, and findings from a recent public opinion poll of Gateway City residents on education accountability. This breakfast, which is free and open to all, will provide a forum for leaders, students, and parents to join us as we reflect on lessons-learned from the No Child Left behind era and consider how new approaches to accountability can better position students and families for success. Seating is limited, register today!
