A Community Conversation on ESSA and School Accountability
December 15, 2016 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 am
| FreePlease Join MassINC and the Worcester Education Collaborative for a COMMUNITY Conversation on OPPORTUNITIES in the new Every Student Succeeds Act to IMPROVE Education Accountability in Gateway Cities
December 15th
7:30 am to 9:00 am
Beechwood Hotel
363 Plantation St
Worcester
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is the most dramatic change to federal education funding and accountability since Congress enacted the No Child Left Behind law in 2002. To comply with ESSA, Massachusetts is developing a new system to evaluate schools and provide additional assistance to those that are struggling to help students succeed. The decisions state education officials over the next few months will have long-term implications for inclusive urban districts like Worcester.
MassINC will present research on the new opportunities ESSA affords urban districts, and findings from a recent public opinion poll of Gateway City residents on education accountability. This breakfast, which is free and open to all, will provide a forum for Worcester leaders, students, and parents to join us as we reflect on lessons-learned from the No Child Left behind era and consider how new approaches to accountability can better position students and families for success. Seating is limited. Please register today.
